La Giornata Mondiale della Voce è un’iniziativa della American Academy of Otolaryngologists volta ad incoraggiare la presa in carico della cura della voce ad ogni età.
L’idea è nata in Brasile, dove un gruppo di specialisti decise nel 1999 di celebrare la “Giornata della voce brasiliana”. Il successo dell’iniziativa ha poi coinvolto i professionisti degli Stati Uniti e dell’Europa che dal 2002 si impegnano per sensibilizzare il pubblico sull’igiene della voce.
Si “celebra” la voce sana, sottolineando l’importanza della stessa nel lavoro e nella società. La giornata intende sensibilizzare e promuovere l’importanza di tutti noi nell’avere una voce sana! In particolare quest’anno si celebra la voce cantata.
Usiamo le nostre voci per comunicare, per ridere, piangere, cantare, urlare. Dai concerti di Pavarotti a Christina Aguilera, le voci hanno il potere di far risuonare spazi enormi oltre che infinite emozioni interiori, eppure le nostre corde vocali sono solo delle dimensioni di un francobollo. Every year on April 16, otolaryngologist—head and neck surgeons and other voice health professionals worldwide join together to recognize World Voice Day. World Voice Day encourages men and women, young and old, to assess their vocal health and take action to improve or maintain good voice habits. The American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery has sponsored the U.S. observance of World Voice Day since its inception in 2002.

The theme for World Voice Day 2012, “Your Voice Counts,” reminds us that our voice is essential for any number of basic activities that might be done on a given day – speaking with family or colleagues, placing an order in a restaurant, or just saying hello to a friend or spouse, etc. Your Voice Counts!
